About Lynette Forrester

In the early 1970`s Lynette Forrester obtained the British Display Society Diploma with distinction and also a Diploma in Graphic Design. Lynette has completed short courses and workshops in Garden Design, Sculpture, Batik, and Calligraphy. In 1999 Lynette completed a course in Stained Glass and in 2002 she completed an advanced City&Guilds course in Decorative Glass.

Lynette Forrester has exhibited her work on a regular basis since 2010 when she took part in the sculpture exhibition Outside Art in Coventry.

Glass Commissions
Commissions include kiln-formed glass garden sculptures, contemporary stained glass windows and fused glass panels and windows. I have also undertaken commissions for fused glass garden screens. I have work in private collections in the UK and in the USA.

2003-Present
I took a career break to relocate to South Shropshire and work on the renovation/build of my present home. I have a home glass design studio and as well as working to commission I also take part in exhibitions throughout the year.

Throughout my Art&Design career I have at various times been involved with house renovations and new builds.

1992-1999
I painted to commission using mainly pastels.

1985-1991
I produced drawings for building services on a contract basis at a number of locations in the North West.

1984-1985
Crosville Motor Company, Chester.
As senior Graphic Artist I promoted new bus services throughout the region via poster campaigns, press advertisements and leaflets.

1983-1984
The boat Museum, Wirral
as sole Graphic Artist I was responsible for the design of all the publicity material. I also liaised with printers to enable projects to be completed on time and within budget.

1978-1982
Employed as a freelance Graphic Artist I supplied a design service for printers.

1976-1977
Austin Stirrup Advertising, Wirral
With a varied workload I designed posters, leaflets, logos and packaging for a toy company.

1974-1976
Forbes Keir Advertising, Liverpool
As a Graphic Artist working for this large agency I worked mainly on full page newspaper advertisements for high street stores.

Artist Statement of Lynette Forrester

Inspired by nature Lynette Forrester works to enhance the environment in which her art glass is placed. In a garden setting, coloured transparent glass allows glimpses of what lies beyond.

It can take many firings in her kiln to achieve the effect that she is looking for in the finished piece.

Lynette Forrester has work in private collections in the UK and abroad and exhibits in sculpture exhibitions on a regular basis.

Awards and Prizes of Lynette Forrester

In 2001 Lynette Forrester won a UK open competition that was run by UK Stained Glass News. Lynette was successful with her Tropical Rainforest inspired interior window.

Lynette was shortlisted for the trustees prize at Painswick Rococo Gardens Sculpture exhibition in 2011 and received a special mention for her Into the Light exhibit in 2012.

In 2011 Shropshire Butterflies, A poetic and artistic guide to the butterflies of Shropshire was published. Lynette has an image of her work included in the book.
